Our Process

Landscape Design

Edible Landscape Design.

Our design team have a unique skillset in edible garden design as they draw on their extensive training and experience in: traditional landscaping, permaculture design and market gardening.

Our team understands that edible landscape design should be about creating a balance between functionality, abundance and aesthetics. We aim to create beautiful gardens that deliver both high quality yields and high quality finishes. This means that we emphasise traditional landscaping features, as well as the food growing features so as to enhance the overall space to one which you can live in and enjoy.

Whether you are after a traditional landscape design with a few edible elements, an update to an existing garden that gets you growing more food for your family or a full blown food forest in your backyard, our designers will get your ideas onto the page and into reality.

Permaculture Design.

Our team of certified permaculture designers can deliver a stunning landscape design using the twelve permaculture principles for all size landscapes and properties. From residential properties with small yard spaces, right through to acreage properties in need of broad-scope design features and time scales. Our designers place a heavy emphasis on the “Obtain a Yield” permaculture principle as it is our belief that one of the most important choices we can make for our family, community and nature itself is to learn to grow our own healthy, sustainable, nutritious and chemical free food - the yield.

Our designers work with the existing natural infrastructure of the land and man-made structures to create functional, abundant, resilient and sustainable landscapes.

Our Design Process

Step 1. Consultation

One of our landscaping & permaculture specialists will visit your property for a 30-60 minute, no obligation consultation. Here, we will discuss with you your vision and ideas for your property, whilst we draw out as much information as we can so we can make sure we are the right fit for you and your goals. We will assess your properties layout, aspect, infrastructure, soil health and existing design elements and cross reference these to what it is you are aiming to create. We take the time to get to know what you are trying to achieve, the budget you are working with and the design elements that are of top priority. At the end of our consultation, you will receive a design fee proposal. If you choose to accept the proposal we move forward with the design phase.

Step 2. Design Phase

One of our designers visits your property for an in-depth consultation where we conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ideas, property, infrastructure, site features, site limitations and budget.

Having discussed your ideas and married these with our design lens, we will compile a hand-drawn concept design that will serve as your garden blueprint. This includes the garden layout, sections, major structures, materials, finishes and features. Upon approval, our design team will then deliver a digital master garden plan which includes all features of the concept design, plus a full schedule of finishes, perennial plants, scale, elevations and irrigation plan.

Step 3. Construction

As part of your landscape design, you will also receive a complete, itemised construction quote for the full implementation of your project. Upon acceptance of your proposal, our team will get to work on the procurement and scheduling of your job so our construction team can get your build underway.

A list of our construction services is available under the landscape construction page.
